Huawei MediaPad M3 8" Kirin 950 Tablet

A wolf in a smooth metal casing? It's pretty to look at, beautiful to hold, streamlined, and has a ginormous specification. What more could anyone ask for. Everything about the M3 can be summed up in one word. Smooth. The finish is spectacular and the performance is, well, extremely smooth. It's definitely up there with the iPad's and Samsung's of the world. Yes, that includes price wise too.

Huawei_MediaPad_M3_8-Inch_Kirin_950_Tablet_Review

Don't let that deter you. This is worth the price. In fact, if you are dead-set on buying an eight inch Tablet, I doubt you will find a better one right now until than the Huawei MediaPad M3.

The new Huawei M3 uses the high performance Hisilicon Octa Core Kirin 950 Processor, consisting of 4 x A72 Cores @2.3 GHz plus 4 x A53 Cores @1.8 GHz. This is the same Processor that's installed in some of their cutting edge Smartphones, including the Mate 8. The Kirin 950 Processor is super quick and extremely energy-efficient.

Combined with the Mali-T880 MP4 GPU (Graphics Processor) and the 4GB RAM that comes as standard in this model, the M3 is capable of running even the most heavy resource-sapping programs, games and Apps while still remaining stable and lag-free.

Huawei MediaPad M3 (BTV-DL09) Quick Specification

  • Hisilicon Octa Core Kirin 950 Processor
  • Android 6.0 Marshmallow Operating System + Emotion UI 4.1
  • 8.4" IPS screen (2560 x 1600) with ClariVU for that extra sparkle
  • Dual cameras, both of which are 8 Megapixels a piece
  • 4GB RAM (LPDDR4)
  • 32GB Storage Space
  • 4G / LTE Compatible
  • Harman Kardon Speakers
  • Micro USB Port
  • Micro SD Card Slot (Max 128GB)
  • Fingerprint I.D Feature
  • Internal Microphone
  • Nano Sized SIM Card Slot
  • 3.5mm Headphone Jack
  • Bluetooth
  • WiFi

Having such a high specification makes the M3 a pleasure to use for browsing the Internet, social media, watching video clips and catch up TV. It can do all those tasks and more without really using much of its resources. Incredible performance. Great for multi-tasking. You may have noticed in the spec list that there was no HDMI port. There isn't one. However, all you need to do is buy the appropriate USB to HDMI cable (cheap), or you can connect the two devices via WiFi if the other device has this feature.

Huawei-8-4GB-RAM-4G-Tablet2

If you're an avid Kindle user, or spend a long time on the Tablet and suffer from eye strain as a result, you may find the clever, softer on the eyes smart display feature (Ambient Light Sensor) a real joy. It basically manages to keep the brightness feeling mellow on the eyes. Automatically fine tuning the displays brightness level to suit the environment you're in so that it's a perfect match.

Not too dark and not too bright. This technology is nothing new but it works especially well, or just appears to look better than usual in this device due to the super vivid ClariVu 3 enhanced IPS display.

How much coverage do you need? The Huawei M3 (53017209) has an impressive array of GPS capabilities. It has normal GPS and Glonass (Russian GPS). These two can be used in conjunction for more location accuracy.

It also has A-GPS (Assisted GPS). This works alongside GPS as a backup, helping to take advantage of mobile phone towers when Satellite signals are lacking. Having the ability to use both gives a helping hand when the device is being used in built up areas where the Satellite's ability to make a strong connection is limited.

If that isn't enough tracking for you, the M3 even has BeiDou. The Chinese Navigation Satellite System (GNSS).

In every regard, the MediaPad M3 seems very stable. But only time will tell to see if it stays that way after months of use. But wow, what a device. Weighing in at a little over 300 grams, it's also light in weight, less than a ⅓ of an inch thick and has an impressive 5100mAh battery. Colours available: Silver or Gold. Take a look at the latest model.

Linx 12V64 12 Inch Tablet Review

The Linx range of tablets offer a good overall computing experience and an affordable price tag. Some have better reviews than others. The Linx 12V64 has one of the largest high-definition screens to date. It appears that Linx are trying hard to keep up with current demand, where some people now want a bigger tablet in order to work more easily and efficiently. And to be able to have a better experience when doing things like watching movies and playing games.

Linx-12V64_12X64_VS

Due to the larger screen (@1920 x 1200), the Linx 12V64 does offer the best of both worlds. In terms of being able to perform work related tasks with ease, other than screen size, it is the external keyboard which plays a vital role in making this possible.

But, apart from the twelve-inch screen (12.2" to be exact), what does the 12V64 have that other Linx models, such as the 1010, 1010B (keyboard bundle), 1020 and 10V series don't have.

Well, firstly, it is one of the very latest models, so that alone gives it a revamp in terms of being the most up to date and hopefully having any minor issues present in earlier models resolved. It also has the more impressive spec sheet. But as far as the core features go, they are all fairly similar. Especially the 10V32 and 10V64.

They all operate on Windows 10, but design wise, the 12V64 does seem to be a bit more sleek and refined. It is thicker than previous models and the keyboard is much slimmer. The build quality is right on the money.

Screen clarity, colouring and sharpness are definitely above average for this price point. Weighing in at not much under 1KG, It's not really a super lightweight machine. But taking the increased dimensions into consideration, that weight is well-distributed and adds to the quality and substantial feel of the device.

As the name tells us, this model does have a better specification than the others. The 12 stands for the screen size and the 64 represents the amount of internal storage space (eMMC) and the Windows operating system version (this one is 64 bit) that the device comes with.

There is also a "32" model which has 32GB storage space and runs the 32 bit version of Windows 10 (Home). This will read as 12V32. So be aware of that if you want the more advanced, but also more expensive 64.

Also worth watching out for, there are two different RAM choices. One comes with 2GB RAM and the other has 4GB RAM. Obviously, more RAM will help ensure better multi-tasking ability and smoothness, but even the 2GB model is a very capable machine.

It performs well, and the keyboard that is supplied with each model is very thin and really nice to use. Although it would have been nice if the keys were protruding more. But that's more of a personal preference rather than a design fault.

The trackpad is very responsive and the back stand makes easy work of being able to angle the device to resemble a laptop. Although, don't think you'll be able to sit back in a chair with the Linx on your lap (tablet + keyboard attached) and expect to use it like a laptop. See the pictures, the stand really needs a flat surface to be effective.

Overall, this is a good, very portable, two-in-one device that can mix it up rather well. The Quad Core Intel Atom X5 (Z8300) Processor (1.4GHz) is a competent all-rounder It's great for work related tasks, like using Microsoft Excel, Word and Access, but equally just as good when it comes to all things entertainment. Apps, catch up TV, Internet browsing and Gaming.

And when you consider the price when compared to the other, more lower specification Linx tablets, the extra money you pay does seem worth it.

Someone said they picked a 12V64 up from Sainsbury's (UK) for £200, which is an excellent deal. Don't build you're hopes up. Although I am not 100% certain, I don't think this special offer is still running.

However, if you do happen to see the offer still live at your local Sainsbury's, snap one up fast. The 12V64 is considerably more expensive everywhere else online and on the high-street. For what few reviews there are for this model so far on Amazon, they are all positive. So that's a good early sign.

The micro SD slot can hold an additional 200GB of storage. This is great, but its nothing new. Some tablets costing less than half the price of the 12V are already capable of this. Such as the Neocore E1, which can hold upto 512GB.

Battery duration has always been a concern for Linx tablets, but so far reports claim that the one built into this model does retain its power to a respectable standard. The average duration, per full charge, is penciled in at around seven hours. Of course, this is widely dependant on the user and how demanding they are.

Other than all the usual features that come on tablets these days, It also benefits from having a full-sized USB port (also micro USB ports), and a Micro HDMI. Twin speakers and dual cameras are present. Of course, it has WiFi, Bluetooth and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Will it replace your laptop. Maybe for some people, yes. Compared to a full-sized laptop it is lightweight. Some are comparing this model to the Surface Pro 4. It is comparable in many ways, but there are quite a few reasons why the Pro 4 costs a lot more to buy.

Summed up in one sentence, it is finished to an extremely high standard and a level above when it comes to performance. However, for the money (far less than the Pro 4) the 12V is a capable and very versatile device, and I can clearly see why some are making the comparison. A good 2 in 1 for the price. Another twelve-inch 2 in 1 possibly on the way soon is from the brand RCA. So keep a look out for that also.

Buy An Apple iPad 4 Mini 64GB Tablet

Eight Inch Tablets are widely considered as the perfect size for most uses. Small and light enough to still be portable, but big enough to make pass times like streaming and watching movies an enjoyable experience. At 7.9", the Apple iPad 4 Mini falls just under the eight inch size range. However, for what it gives away in size, which is minute anyway, it more than makes up for in other areas.

Apple_iPad_4_Mini_White

The screen alone beats almost everything else in its category and beyond. If you're looking for something at the pinnacle of small screen technology, look no further. The deepness and most colour abundant champion of small screens is the Apple iPad Mini 4. The quality can only be described as amazing, and the colour gamut range really is top shelf.

Excellent Display

The Apple iPad Mini 3 has an excellent display, and although they both share the same resolution PPI, the Mini 4 beats it in colour gamut by over 25%. Such an excellent colour range and razor-sharp clarity from the 2048 x 1536 laminated IPS retina screen. The operating system installed on this model is iOS 9.2.

iPads are superior to most

As with all Apple iPad's, the build quality is superb. It's light in weight (around 300 Grams) and slim beyond belief. In the hand, top quality brushed aluminium is a far cry from anything else that isn't finished using the same material. As crazy as this might sound to some, it's such a beautiful device to handle that it makes you want to treat it delicately with care and respect.

Even more worthy of respect is the performance. In a world that see's more Cores as being better (Which a lot of the time isn't the case), would you believe that the iPad Mini 4th Generation still uses a Two Core Processor? Well, it does. It uses a Dual Core A8 (64‑bit) Processor @ 1.5 GHz.

Which goes to prove, more Cores doesn't always mean better performance. Adding more horsepower to the overall specification is the Quad Core Graphics Processor (PowerVR GX6450) and 2GB of RAM. The battery life from the advanced Lithium Polymer 5124 mAh battery is also impressive.

Apple_iPad_4_Mini_Silver_Black_UK_SpaceGray

This model (64GB) is WiFi only (No 3G or 4G). However, although not a new technology, the Mini 4th Generation supports the faster WiFi IEEE 802.11ac, as well as 802.11 a/b/g/n. This means you can use either 2.4GHz WiFI, or the faster and less crowded 5GHz frequency band.

Please be aware: If you haven't already, you will have to upgrade to a faster router via your Internet Service Provider if you want to take advantage of this feature. It's not automatically activated once you use your Mini 4 on your WiFi network.

However, it's not really needed if you are happy with your Internet connection. The sound quality of the speakers is superior to quite a lot of devices of similar size. Also built-in is a front facing 1.2mp camera (720p) and an 8mp iSight rear camera, which is capable of so much. Including slow motion, burst mode, Panorama, and quality as high as 1080p.

More features and considerations

The inclusion of a 3.5mm headphone jack, Bluetooth 4.2 and Touch ID do soften the blow slightly, but the lack of easy, convenient connectivity can't be ignored. There is no USB Port, no HDMI Port and no Micro SD card slot. Of course, they are ways round these limitations but some require additional purchases, and that is a bit disappointing really. Limitations aside, this is one of the best eight inch tablets out there. Colours available: Gold, Silver and Space Grey.

Ready to buy the Apple iPad 4 Mini? Make sure to get a case / cover with your purchase. You'll be glad you did. If you want to save some money but still get the full Apple experience, the iPad Air 2 is well worth considering. Budget not an issue? Apple iPad Pro is the way to go!

Older Model Samsung SGH B130 Phone

SGH B130 Black - Dumb PhoneI guess with the Samsung SGH B130 coming out in 2008 we could class it as an old school / retro mobile phone now in 2019. It doesn’t have a built-in camera and all the other features that the more up to date phones now have like WiFi, Apps, Operating Systems, GPS etc. However, it does have everything you basic phone lovers need to make and take calls, send and receive texts, and the ability to talk on speaker phone.

This phone is available to buy SIM free on Amazon for very cheap including Postage. Very cheap! The Samsung SGH B130 does the basics well but It also has a few useful features as well like alarms, an Organiser, Calendar, Calculator, Clock, Timer, World time and respectable stand by and talk time durations.

Samsung SGH B130 Quick Specification

  •     GSM 850/1900 (Dual Band)
  •     Simple
  •     Tough
  •     Comfortable In Hand
  •     MMS
  •     GPRS
  •     1.51 inch Screen
  •     Stand-by up to 300 hours
  •     Talk Time up to 400 minutes
  •     USB Charging Port
  •     Sar Level: 0.65 W/kg

This is a great little basic phone that fits in the hand nicely and looks more expensive than what it really is. It only costs a fiver after all!. The colour screen looks a bit basic having just 65K colours but a Samsung SGH B130 Phone is cheaper to buy than even the newer model budget Samsung phones like the E1080i and E1200. One thing to be aware of, though, is the battery that will come with the phone.

If it is a number of years old it might not hold a charge too well. And it most certainly won’t hit the stand-by and talk time durations stated in this post. It's pretty much the same with all the older models, including the classics, such as the Nokia 3310 and Nokia 8210. Those specs (durations) are what the phone is capable of with a new battery. A brand new Battery for the SGH B130 costs not much at all, so the overall price works out to be not too expensive if you did need to buy a replacement.

So what do you do. Buy an older phone (B130) that is slightly cheaper than the entry-level Samsung’s like the E1080i and E1200, or do you go for the older option that may need a new battery at some point. I suppose it comes down to personal preference. All of them are good phones.

But with the newer Samsung’s either of the models mentioned here will be brand new in the box with a new battery for an extra bit of money than the older Samsung B130 costs. Whereas the B130 will be most probably be in a used condition and have more mileage on the clock. It’s your call.

Noza Tec 10.1" Quad Core Tablet Review

Cheap Tablets that are actually worth reviewing are becoming more common. Overall product quality is improving and prices are continuing to fall. That's a great combination for anyone who's in the market for a cheap new Tablet. More good news is that you don't have to settle for a 7" model that's only slightly bigger than your Smartphone.

It's the 10 Inch models, along with some of the smaller versions of various brands, which are part of the price drop. Some of the 10" are just as affordable as a seven Inch model with the same spec. Don't believe me? Just take a look at the price of the Noza Tec reviewed here. It comes down to personal preference on this occasion, not price. Bigger or smaller? They both cost the same.

Noza_Tec_10-1-INCH_Quad_Core_Tablet_Review_UK

This model is now sold out (currently unavailable) in the UK.

Have a read about Neocore Tablets, which are in stock

So what can be said about the Noza Tec 10.1" Tablet?. Well, as far as specifications go it's quite "Run of the mill" really. The Noza Tec has an almost identical specification to a lot of the other budget priced Tablets currently out there for sale. Quad Core Processor (4 x 1.3GHz cores), Android 4.4 Kitkat Operating System, Dual Camera's (always poor on budget models), 1GB RAM, Bluetooth, WiFi, SD card slot, Micro USB port(s) and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

However, when it comes to the lower priced models, and some of the high-end ones too, stability can be an issue. Thankfully, this one is widely reported as being stable, which is most probably due to the 4.4 Kit Kat being one of the more well-behaved Operating Systems.

The 32GB storage in the Noza Tec Ten Inch is broken up into two parts. You have a 16GB of built into the device itself, and then another 16GB on a TF card that's included in the price. It has the Allwinner A33 Processor, which is common for the lower priced Tablets.

But its a decent Processor that performs adequately in most areas. Required Language setting can be changed to almost anything you desire. German, Italian, Polish, French, Spanish. You get the idea. The list is long.

A good amount of accessories are included. Comes complete with mains charger, USB and OTG cables, user manual, stylus pen and protective sleeve. There are two packages to choose from. Both are basically the same, with the only difference being one is slightly more expensive (Not by much) and comes with an additional case / keyboard combination. That one is low on stock right now.

The NozaTec 10.1" is not going to break any records for screen quality, speed or touch screen responsiveness. But it is stable, affordable, and looks more expensive than what it really costs to buy. It performs the basics well.

The usual tasks that a lot of people do digitally these days like browsing the Internet for information, shopping and connecting with friends, Reading (Kindle), watching movies and YouTube clips, playing simple games and skyping etc, won't be a problem. Reviews are really good. A fairly good deal for the price. Please Note: This model does not have a HDMI slot.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Video Review 2018

Samsung's latest 2018 release, the Galaxy Note 9 (Snapdragon 845 + Android 8.1 Oreo) is the talking point for many tech fans this week. Reviews are fairly positive across the board. It looks great, apparently feels great in the hand, and is said to be somewhat improved from the previous model. Although some don't agree with that and claim that there really isn't much difference between the earlier model and the new Note 9. So what's different, or improved. Well, the back fingerprint sensor has been relocated to a more convenient location. The screen size is ever so slightly bigger than the Note 8, measuring 6.4 Inches compared to 6.3 Inches for the Note 8.

However, one of the most welcomed improvements on this model, and in my opinion, one of the things that most needs addressing for ALL Smartphones, is the battery life. The Note 9 has been kitted out with a massive 4000mAh battery that will no doubt last a lot longer than a day.Yes, even if you're one of the people who are glued to their phone for the best part of the day, like most people seem to be in 2018.

The Note 9 can be hooked up to external resources, such as a computer monitor, so the user can use the device just like you would with a graphics tablet, where what you do on the phone is projected on to the big screen. Great for watching video, creating artworks, and just getting work done in general. It's also water-cooled on the inside to keep the internal temperatures within optimal ranges. Great if you're someone who loves multi-tasking, running tons of Apps, 100 browser windows open at once, all while playing a resource zapping game at the same time.

It also has a picture "pop" feature which can assist in making your photos come to life. So its basically an editor that works very much the same as Instagram's editor, only its Samsung's own spin on it, and this one can do its job automatically if that's what you prefer. Pretty cool. By the way, the Stylus Pen has Bluetooth, which can be used to manage certain functions on the phone. Including camera options, App launching and music controls. Needless to say, the Note 9 is also water resistant and has wireless recharge.

Two different models are available, consisting of one that has 6GB RAM (128GB Internal storage) and the other which has 8GB RAM and 512GB of internal storage space. That's quite a difference in storage capacity. While both models are not exactly cheap with the "standard" model costing the best part of a thousand dollars ($999), there will no doubt be many people who will be buying this phone as soon as it hits the shelves. You can pre-order the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 from tomorrow (August 10th 2018). Or, if you're in the UK you can pre-order right now and it will be shipped to you on the 30th August (512GB model). So if you want one, be quick before the rush comes. Colours available: Blue or Pink.

Zanco Fly Super Small “Beat the Boss”

Zanco Fly White UKHere we have another super small mobile phone for all those people who just love the small cute ones. The Zanco Fly is another phone marketed as a “Beat the Boss”. Of course, this is mainly due to its small stature. But “Beat the Boss” also has other meanings.

These phones, if hidden properly, are basically undetectable. That is partly due to it being so small yes, but also because it’s mostly made from plastic. The internal metal content it does contain is minimal and more than likely won’t set off the majority of detectors that are hunting for metal items.

Please Note: That is not a guarantee! If you buy this phone for the specific purpose of sneaking it past some sort of metal detecting checkpoint, do your own checks beforehand, or just be a good boy and stop trying to beat the boss!

Sellers online list the Zanco Fly as being completely made from plastic, but there has to be some metal contained inside on the motherboard / circuit board, on board chips, and solder points. So lets say its 95% – 99% plastic. If it was 100% plastic I would be very surprised. Specially at this low price. And even if it was, there’s the SIM card to consider, which does contain metal. Can it go through metal detectors undetected? Well, that does depend massively on the sensitivity of the detector.

Anyway, enough about that. The Zanco Fly is one of the more well-built, feature rich miniature cellphones. It has a built-in voice changer which can change the way your voice sounds. Lots of fun. There are 13 different settings for this feature. Some include: A Mans voice, Child's, Old person, Cartoon, Young, Optimus, a Duck and a Robot.

It can also play MP3 music. It has numerous ring tones, an LCD OLED Screen, and can be set to different languages, like Portuguese, Italian, French, Hindi, Polish, etc. English (UK) is the default language setting. Common colours available are White (pictured), Black and Gold. Reviews are pretty good. This is a great little novelty phone. Perfect as a spare, second phone, or even as your main phone. Would also make a nice gift for someone who loves little gadgets. Don’t like this Zanco? Check out the tiny (finger sized) Long CZ J8 instead [Now updated to the CZ J9].

NeoCore B1 10 Inch Tablet UK

NeoCore_B1_10_Inch_Tablet_UK
Other than the brands that everyone knows and are extremely popular, like Samsung, Apple and Lenovo, NeoCore Tablets are considered as some of the best in the UK in terms of stability, quality and value for money. There are a few different models of NeoCore Tablet available. Most notable are the NeoCore N1F and the NeoCore E1. The B1 and C1 are the oldest of the models, and are harder to find for sale these days.

But if you do find either model for sale, they will be the cheapest out of all the models due to their age. However, just because they are the cheapest doesn't mean there not packing a decent specification and features that are not a million miles away to what the N1 and E1 have. Although it is definitely recommended that you buy one of the updated models, especially in 2021, as the most recent generation has a very good spec overall, including 3GB RAM.

Due to their age and specification (most notable, the small amount of RAM), the B1 and C1 are for basic usage. B1 Features + Specification The NeoCore B1 10.1-Inch Touch Screen Tablet has a Quad Core processor which is made up of 4×1.3GHz Cores. It also has 512mb RAM.

So, for the price this is a decent enough Tablet that is capable of running a few "light" programs or Apps without suffering much lag. It has the Android 4.4 operating system (KitKat), and has an internal 8 GB of storage built-in. This is upgradable via SD Card up to 64 GB. It's fairly fast and responsive.

And by most accounts the screen resolution and graphic capabilities are good for the price. Couple that with it being a Ten-Inch Tablet rather than a 7" or 9" and you have a Tablet capable of offering a good user experience when it comes to things like watching films, reading books and playing none resource demanding games.

The NeoCore B1 also has many of the usual, and useful features found on the more expensive Tablets, like Dual Cameras (2MP), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Google Play, SD Card compatible, internal microphone, Micro USB port, 3.5 mm headphone jack, and a pretty decent battery life.

Of course, you can also do all the usual stuff like browse the Internet, check mail, YouTube, watch catch up TV, install new software, including the Kindle App, and any other Apps out of the many thousand available, that you may want installed.

Thanks to their now being an App to do almost anything for Android, you can do most things on a NeoCore B1 Tablet, as long as it's not too demanding. The NeoCore B1 Tablet is slim and light. It's around a 3rd of an Inch in thickness and half a KG (499 Grams) in weight. But one of the most impressive things included within the low price of this Tablet is the 2-year Warranty that NeoCore offer with this item.

This is an excellent deal. Two years is a long time, and within that time frame if something goes wrong with your Tablet you can send it back to NeoCore and either get it repaired or replaced.

Neocore Warranty

A lot of companies in the UK selling budget Tablets (usually shipped from China) are offering a 1-year warranty, so for NeoCore to offer double that speaks volumes. They have a lot of confidence in their products.

Enough to stand behind them and offer a very long warranty. The B1 Tablet is impressive for the price, but add the warranty into the mix and you have a good little deal in terms of value for the money and product security. Buy one if you can find one for sale. I believe there are some used / refurbished examples on eBay.

As mentioned above, for a little more money you can buy the slightly better NeoCore N1F and NeoCore E1 Tablets, which basically have everything (including the same warranty length) that the B1 has but with some up-to-date upgrades like 2 GB RAM, HDMI, Octa Core GPU, GPS, and a Built-in radio. Want the latest addition to the Neocore range?

GoDaddy Admits Domain Transfers On Rise

So, what happened here? Well, due to GoDaddy's support of the SOPA legislation, they seen a significant loss of domain names, where users were transferring them over to another registrar. They freely admitted this. Why would GoDaddy's support of a legislation cause so many users to take such drastic action.

The reason is because the SOPA legislation was a very controversial bill. It really should have been broken down into many smaller bills, and tackled one at a time. So ultimately, SOPA should not have been introduced at all. It was way too ambitious. And close to impossible to achieve without being on the receiving end of a rebellion of literally millions of people.

When people unite in those types of numbers, it's quite some rebellion. If noticed (many bills fly under the radar, never coming to the attention of the general public) Bills don't stand a chance if they push people too far. The power really does lie in the people and their (our) sheer numbers.

SOPA in a nutshell

SOPA stands for Stop Online Piracy Act. It was introduced to try and stem, or eliminate the huge problem of copyright infringement, and also to clamp down on the selling / distributing of fake goods (including drugs / medications). This bill was set to cover everything from banning certain payment processors from dealing with offending websites, manipulating DNS', to de-indexing (removing links) from the major search engines, and even going after people who stream copyrighted content.

SOPA wanted to extend it's reach over almost everything on the Internet. After all, almost half the Internet can be considered as copyrighted content in some way or another. There was huge concern over the Bill when it came to freedom of information and freedom of speech. People were outraged over how far reaching SOPA was intending to be.

Copyright Infringement | Where Does It Start, or End?

Shared a picture on Pinterest you got from a website but you weren't the picture taker and its not royalty free, or licensed under the Creative Commons / public domain? Or worse, you inserted that picture on to your own website or blog. Uploaded your favourite movie clip to YouTube? Listed something for sale on eBay and used someone else's image or text in your listing?  If you done any of those things, you may have just committed a copyright infringement. See how ridiculous it is?

And can you imagine how hard it would be to enforce. SOPA bit off much more than they could chew. As a result, SOPA has been "Shelved".  Although they are adamant that its not dead and buried and still very much alive. Of course, there should be laws in place that deal with copyright infringements, which there is.

But overall, what SOPA wanted was blatant censorship. And the power to completely remove a whole domain / website for a copyright violation (amongst other reasons) that one of their website users / members may have committed. How unfair is that. It's completely ridiculous.

Anyway, this was the reason why so many domain transfers took place. Website owners were concerned because GoDaddy was in support of SOPA to begin with. But when they (GoDaddy) seen the transfer numbers start rising they quickly changed their minds. They then somewhat reversed their support, claiming they were against SOPA.

GoDaddy weren't the only company to receive some backlash from their customers for supporting this bill. Other companies who were in favor of SOPA were also boycotted. There was a "service blackout" in which many companies, including Google and Wikipedia joined together in protest of the bill.

Apple iPhone
